Many people say that the ability of a person in photography only determined by age and hours flown. Without intending to support the
or refute these ideas, the opportunity this time we we
presents Joey Lawrence, a photographer who was only 18 years old
that we have the sensitivity, the ability and maturity of thought
a photographer. Through our interviews with him, we met some
spontaneous answers are honest, simple but has depth of meaning.
Seeing the work, thinking and extraordinary ability is inspiring
us to bring a positive spirit photography enthusiasts Indonesia
for glass and brave flog myself to try to keep
become even better.

How did you know photography. Tell us from the beginning.
I made some home movies when I was little about me being chased by dinosaurs…
Then eventually our family got a digital camera point and shoot when I
was older. Then I shot some local bands for a bit and eventually got bigger clients,
better equipment and more money!

What interesting for you about
photography?
It makes me responsible for capturing
a person and presenting them in one
frame.

What makes you love travel photography?
Eating all the peanuts on the flights to
the locations.

When shooting travel photography.
What do you want to
achieved or must be achieved?
I am not looking so much for a photojournalistic
image, I am looking for a
dignified portrait. The same thought
process goes to a subject in a travel
portrait as a commercial portrait. I do
not believe in separating style based
on the subject.

In both technical & non technical
aspect, what is the most
important thing on doing travel
photography.
Putting the technical things at the
back of your head only, so you may use
them but are not distracted by them…
and of course making a portrait with
dignity.

On Non photography aspect,
what should people learn or pay
attention more to be a good
travel photographer.
Learn the story of their subject, what
they believe in, or at least something
small about them.

What triggering you to create a
picture?
It is the thing that fuels my journeys,
without photography I would not be
pushed to meet the interesting people
I do, or see the beautiful places I see. I
am very blessed to have the opportunities
I have.

When photography are growing
faster. So many photographer
have an identically the same
style & character. What should
a photographer do to get still
unique & distinct?
It is very important to first spend some
time viewing work, learning technicalities,
and learning but it is also just as
important to forget all about other
people’s photography, and ignore the
industry of it completely. When you do
this, you can take a picture more honest
to your vision.

You also shoot commercial &
portraiture. What’s interesting
about those two?
A new challenge every shoot.

Which one do you like doing it
most, travel photography, commercial
photography or portraiture?
Why?
I like my personal work better because I
have more control over my subjects.

What kind of photo deserved
labeled as a good photo?
A good photo is an image that makes
another photographer jealous of
course!

Share us some practical tips on
making a good photos.
Make a lot of mistakes and experiment
with everything you can.

Not many young photographer
or even they who older than you
have better capability and confidence
on photography. Share us
some tips to at least be better on
those aspect.
I think the best and most successful
photographers are always confident
but also trustworthy. If someone
doesn’t trust you, they will not be able
to make a good photo with you and
the quality will suffer because of it. A
good photographer takes time out of
shooting, and adds time into investigating.

Every photographer on the world, must ever been shooting landscape. Landscape / Nature photography are the most and the basic attract thing which is magnetting people to take a memorable picture. It was human nature, that we like to see green or clear blue color in our environment. Looking at green golf field or clear blue sky or water in the beach are on of inspiration to take a master piece picture. The question is where and how to start it, first of all you need to search for that great green or blue view. One of the best recommended resorts is Myrtle Beach Resort.

In Myrtle Beach Resorts you could find those beach views, including the green view in golf field. The beach itself off course has a lot of things to dig, you could photograph the rising view or sunset view, or your might want to take beach environment.
You might surprise what you could get in the crowd.

One of Myrtle Beach Accomodations which you could get is the golf view. From there you could play while looking for your further inspirations. Instead of those two views, Myrtle Beach Accommodations have more surprise to discovered. Lots of activities you could get in there.
Don’t forget, the best photographer are the one who can take a quality time to take a picture, no matter where they are.

It seems that you love doing black &
white photography, Please explain
why.
I believe black and white is immediately
more mysterious because we
see in color all the time. It is also more
subjective. I think it is quieter and more
calm than color. I like to print all my
own work and I can interpret black and
white very subjectively in the darkroom.
It is a personal preference.

Everybody shoot landscape. But
only selected create some good ones. What did they missed to make
it good?
Art, in all forms, is immensely subjective.
I don’t know if anybody can give
universal reasons why something
should be categorized as “good” or
“bad”. I certainly do not have that understanding.
Some photographs touch
us emotionally, more deeply than others.
There are many reasons why this
could be, including; choice of subject
matter, technical excellence, aesthetic
pleasure, personal resonance, intellectual
curiosity, etc.
You do very intense personal project
and also commercial project. What
interesting for us is both project
output have the same style and the
same character. While some photographer
do a very different style &
character of output when shooting
for personal & commercial project.
What do you think about this? Why
can’t they do the same?
I am very fortunate and due to the success of my landscape work, I have
been able to accept commercial work
which allows me to use my personal
style of photographing. There would
really be no reason for anybody to
commission me if they didn’t want the
resulting images to be in my style. I am
also not sure I could photograph very
well in any other way. Practically speaking,
most photographers are not in a
position to turn down work and it is
necessary for them to adapt their style
and technique to the client’s needs and
wishes. I would certainly do the same
if my fine art work did not give me any
income!
Mention one word that describe
your photos
Sorry, I cant : ) I will leave that answer
for somebody else

What kind of picture deserve labeled
as “the great one”?
I think a book could be written on
this subject! In fact, many have been.
I believe a “great” photograph is in
the mind, heart, soul and spirit of the
beholder. Some photographs may be
considered “great” by consensus, others
by single individuals. There are “great”
photographs by ordinary photographers,
and ordinary photographs by
“great” photographers. Ultimately,
“great” is a label, subjectively applied.
You regularly do exhibition. Do you
think all photographers should do
exhibitions regularly? How often?
And please explain the reasons.
I cannot speak for other photographers.
For myself, I think it is important
to share images, whether it is through
exhibitions, web sites, books, calendars,
posters, notecards, etc. I think one
of the prime reasons to be a photographer
is the willingness and even
necessity to exhibit what is created.
Being a photographer means that I
hunt for experiences. I am privileged to
witness amazing things. I try to record
and interpret them. I don’t believe I
should hoard the results. I like to think
that I am a medium for others to see
things they might not otherwise have
the opportunity to see. I think that I am
really a guide.

Practically, exhibitions give me deadlines
to finish prints. They help me to
survey a body of work objectively, and
I am always interested in the viewers
reactions and responses. Exhibitions
also enable to me to survive because
my livelihood is very much based in
print sales.
If there is some kind of checklist
to achieved before you press the
shutter release, what aspect/point
should be on the list?
I would suggest that there is some sort
of resonance, connection or personal
response with the subject matter. But it
is different for everybody. Sometimes,
it is a form of therapy just to wander
and photograph. The results may not
even matter. Sometimes it helps to
see, understand and connect us the
world. Sometimes, it does precisely the
opposite and rather than experience
the world itself we hide behind the
camera. I like to think that I am having
a conversation with whatever I photograph.
I try not to steal an image, but
rather acknowledge that a photograph
is being made.
I look for an interesting composition,
an arrangement of shapes and tonalities.
I am drawn to certain lighting conditions and atmospheres. But it is
all so personal. For example I’ve always
liked to photograph in “conditions”;
mist, rain, snow, etc., where distracting
backgrounds are eliminated or subdued.
Sunshine and blue sky has never
appealed to me. Too much light tends
to reveal all the details of a scene and
I am not interested in a perfect photocopy.
I prefer suggestion over description.
I like to use the analogy of haiku
poetry where just a few elements act as
catalysts for one’s imagination. Often
I make long time exposures so that
detailed water becomes floating mist,
clouds in the sky become blurred masses
of tonality and a populated scene
becomes empty. The world is pretty
chaotic, seemingly always speeding up
and getting louder and more visually
dense. I am interested in finding and/or
creating calm shelters from the storm,
places where quiet solitude is encouraged
and inner contemplation is possible.
I think we could all use a break
from time to time…

Have you ever wonder where did photographer found their ideas. Ideas could come out anywhere, even when you walk in the park or shopping mall. Shooting a magician in the street could one of the alternative, or you might want to buy David Copperfield Tickets in the search of your inspiration. Taking pictures of great magician like him, could open your mind about a new world of illusion. If you took a time and compare within illusion and photography, its almost the same. The fact that both of them using art to make an image or picture come alive, make it worth to be see.

While the other option is looking some inspiration from music. Buying Adam lambert tickets and then watch his shows. Some photographer found their inspiration by looking on music instruments, try to find your own inspiration there.

Either from great illusionist or from musical event, new inspiration of shooting a moving object is always a challenging way. If those are not your area of fields, try to get Churchill Downs Tickets, more interesting event you’ll discovered there.
